Intensive Throwing Weekend *FULL*
Two days on the wheel - an opportunity to tackle a new form, improve skills or increase the scale of your work.
Two days on the wheel - an opportunity to tackle a new form, improve skills or increase the scale of your work.
The aim of this two day workshop is to improve accuracy and consistency in throwing batches of small vessels. On Saturday we’ll be throwing, then trimming and finishing with handles, spouts or lids on Sunday after overnight drying. Pots can be decorated immediately using simple and attractive slip techniques, ready to leave for glaze firing and collection a week later (Sat 19th Dec).
Teapots are a favourite potter’s challenge; lots of components and endless variety of shape and surface, fun and function. Get the basics under your belt in a weekend.
Larger forms offer a huge potential and enjoyable challenges for the potter, balancing technical considerations with great scope for expression. There will be four sessions; an evening, a long afternoon and two days, giving the opportunity for more sustained making, taking advantage of overnight drying time.
Throwing bowls deserves special attention. Whether finished with intricate decoration or simple glaze dipping, nothing is quite so satisfying as a beautiful curve inside a bowl and a good balance in the hands. During this workshop we’ll be concentrating on getting it right on the wheel.
*NEW DATE* A day for beginners to learn the basics of throwing and intermediate potters to extend their repertoire of form or improve a particular aspect of technique.
The only thing more personal than a handmade present is one you've made with your own hands... a personalised mug, a pot for jam or a pretty jug for a friend or family member is bound to go down well!
