Summer course: Four days on the wheel

This year the focus of our four days will be on making lidded jars, exploring different ways of making lid fittings, knobs, lugs and handles, and looking at a variety of surface treatments from texture and slip patterns to anticipating the flow of glaze over a form. Jars offer a huge variety of potential and enjoyable challenges for the potter, balancing technical considerations with great scope for expression, from tiny and precious, frivolous and decorative, to practical and tall enough to store your spaghetti.

Suitable for those with moderate experience, or early throwers with ambition!

There are four sessions; an evening and four days, giving the opportunity for more sustained making, and taking advantage of overnight drying time.

Thursday 12 July 6-9pm; Friday 2-7pm; Sat & Sun 10-4pm.

Five places are available.

Course fee: £210 to include materials, drinks and light refreshments. The studio is situated in the centre of Salisbury, with many cafes and shops close by for lunches.
