A four day course suitable for those that have moderate experience on the wheel, and are looking to broaden their experience and technique.   

When making composite pots, like teapots, jugs and lidded jars, it is the combination of the elements that give the final piece its harmony and character.  There are lots of different considerations to explore about the ways these elements can be made, their scale and the relationship between them and the basic form.  In the end, the composite pot should seem more than the sum of its parts.

The technical aspects of fitting lids and attaching handles and spouts will be covered, along with suggestions of alternative ways of approaching the subject.  Function or fun? The aim is to explore the possibilities offered by composite forms, and to complete a few examples by the end of the four days, ready for biscuit firing if desired.

A maximum of five spaces ensures plenty of close tuition.

Course fee: £195

The fee includes materials used during the course, but not firing and glazing, which can be arranged for a future date for those who wish to take their pieces forward.  Hot drinks and biscuits are provided, but not meals.  The studio is in the heart of the town and there is a wide choice of pubs and eateries nearby.
